DEFEND AND PROMOTE THE AVIATION INDUSTRY IN THE UNITED STATES

THE AVIATION INDUSTRY IS ON THE VERGE OF COLLASPE

The aviation industry in the United States is about to collapse.  Every field in aviation is under attack from the FBO's providing flight instruction, the mechanic shops, the corporate flight departments, and of course the airlines.  The general public is just now starting to notice the collapse of the airlines with flight delays and cancelled flights.  News reports and articles are being mislead by the Department of Transportation (DOT) that these problems are being caused by the airlines.  The fact of the matter is that the DOT, and our legislative members of congress and senate bear full responsibility the the impending disaster that we are seeing unfold.

This problem started in about 1991 when a airliner crashed in Buffulo, NY killing 50 people.  From a aviation standpoint this was clearly a training issue.  The pilots where not familiar with cold weather/icing operations, nor were they properly trained in the aircraft they were operating.  This accident should have just resulted in better training for airline pilots.  However, the crash was quickly used by our elected officials to enact new regulations on an industry they knew nothing about.  This is how we got the arbitrary regulation of first officers needing an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate just to start working at the airlines.

The airlines failed to fight this new regulation much to their demise.  Most other countries do not have this requirement, and their aviation industry's are doing great!  New pilots come out of flight training with little more then 300 flight hours.  To get to the minimum requirements for an ATP certificate requires 1500 flight hours.  A new pilot is facing years of flight instruction or other low paying jobs just to get qualified.
